Thanksgiving is on a Thursday

I LOVE the holidays. As soon as October rolls around, that's it, I don't care if it's still 95 degrees out, my boots are getting worn! It's also the only time you'll see me purchase a hot beverage from Starbucks. I love their White Chocolate Mochas, (with or without peppermint) and Caramel Apple Cider but only during the holiday season.

I grew up in a small town where it got colder much quicker and snows a bunch. I miss that because there is nothing that compares to waking up Christmas morning to snow. Getting suited up in our ridiculous snow suits and huge boots to go make snow angels. And finally when it was time to come inside we'd run to the back room where the pellet stove was and throw all our dirty suits and boots there to dry leaving us in our long johns to open gifts. *Side note... I was just praying yesterday that the Lord would remind me of all the good things about my childhood. Things that would remind me He was there and I was taken care of. This particular story I just kinda forgot about. But it brings such joy to my heart remembering it. :) *

Every year since we got married, we have hosted Thanksgiving except for last year. At first I was bummed because I didn't get to host Christmas becasue I love to decorate but now I am glad it worked out that way. Less stress and not a hundred people crammed into our home. It's just such a thankful, beautiful holiday. Plus I love that my husband wants to make the Turkey and that I get to make all the desserts. Especially since I have my kitchen aid mixer now :) I also go a little... planning crazy. I have already bought my place cards for the dinner table, some boxes to decorate for everyones leftovers that they'll take home and I have planned our menu. (Yes, I created a menu,  I love this type of stuff.) Since it'll just be Nathan and I's parents this year, I am so looking forward to a relaxing, fun night. Our family is also totally into games so I have some bingo and card games planned. I even created my first turkey in Photoshop today.. I know he is kinda lame but give him some love :)

What are you looking forward to most this Holiday season? Do you host at your house or do you like just relaxing? What types of food are a tradition at your thanksgiving?

  4. Awww, where are you living now?

Here in Colorado, we're enjoying unseasonably warm weather (although, we have also had two accumulating snows, so far). I love snow around Christmas, but THAT'S IT! Otherwise, I'm fine without it. ;)

    1. We live in AZ. Same state, just much different weather than the small town I grew up in! I can imagine you get a ton of snow there.. I love Colorado so much, such a beautiful state! My parents own property on a river and I love visiting!
